Round table Edgar, Dunn: Discussion among retailers: what is the optimal organisation and governance structure for tackling future payment challenges?

10:00 am - 10:45 am | Bosio 1

This round table discussion, composed exclusively of retailers, focuses on internal organisation and governance related to payments within companies.

As innovation in payments continues to accelerate (for example new in-store and e-commerce shopping journeys, the proliferation of new payment methods such as wallets, and the rise of agentic commerce), retailers must establish the right organisational structures to support business growth. A study by Edgar, Dunn & Company shows that 80% of companies with a Head of Payments and a dedicated payments team achieve a very positive ROI, both in terms of cost savings and additional revenue generated through payments.

This raises the following questions:

Is it appropriate to have a Head of Payments/Payments Manager? To whom does this Head of Payments report? Is it appropriate to have a payments and fraud team? Where should this team be located within the company's organisation (e.g. finance, business, IT)? And what place should payments have within the company? What is the optimal governance for payments in order to facilitate cooperation between teams and drive business growth?

This round table will also address priority issues for merchants:

Is it relevant to implement payment orchestration? Is Wero a priority for merchants? What can be done to meet the challenges of agentic commerce? What will the customer journey look like in the coming years?

Round table: Conversational commerce: new channel or new centre of gravity?

11:00 am - 11:45 am | Bosio 1

From conversation to conversion: when brands need to engage in three-way dialogue. Conversational commerce is gradually becoming part of the purchasing process, with messaging, enhanced chat and AI assistants. In what is now a three-way model — brand ↔ customer ↔ agent/AI — conversation is no longer just a medium, but a point of guidance and sometimes decision-making.

This round table will analyse truly effective uses, organisational barriers, integration with data and CRM, and relevant indicators for measuring business impact.

The aim is to distinguish between hype and concrete levers for value creation.
